Dr. Vanesa Fernandez
Managing Director

Vanesa Fernandez is Managing Director of Echo Pharmaceuticals since March 2010 and manages all aspects of the business such as finance, personnel, R&D of new and existing products and company strategy. Previously, she served as Echo Pharmaceutical's Technical Manager, responsible for product development, establishing GMP production and development of the company's team from the early beginning.

Before joining Echo Pharmaceuticals, Vanesa Fernandez worked as Project Leader at FeyeCon D&I where she lead commercial research projects for a variety of (international) clients in different domains, such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, foods and textiles.

She received her PhD in Chemistry at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) in 2005. Between 1998 and 2001, she worked as scientific researcher at DSM and Delft University of Technology. She holds a MSc degree in Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain) and moved to the Netherlands in 1998. She is the author of several scientific publications and holds a number of patents.

Dr. Geert Woerlee
Company Founder & Executive Board Member

Geert Woerlee is a serial entrepreneur.

He holds a Masters degree in Physics and a PhD in Applied Science. He is the current controlling owner of FeyeCon D&I, a company that develops products using carbon dioxide as platform technology. Over the last ten years, he lead FeyeCon into an intellectual property venture fund owning major stakes in fifteen spin-off companies.

These companies produce products in diagnostics, textile dyeing, dry-cleaning, pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, and dried vegetables and employ over one hundred people. Geert Woerlee is currently CEO of CleanAlgae and AlgaeBiotech and executive board member of Echo Pharmaceuticals and DyeCoo Textile Dyeing systems.

Noes de Vries
Executive Board Member

Noes de Vries is Executive Board Member of Echo Pharmaceuticals since 2009.

He is the founder and current director of Urogyn B.V., a company that develops and manufactures sterile implants in the field of urology and gynecology, in particular for female healthcare. He is also a member of the Health Valley Foundation board and the advisory board of the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRO).

After graduating in Pharmacy from the University of Utrecht, Noes de Vries started his career as general manager and responsible pharmacist for NPBI in Amsterdam, former manufacturing facilities of the Central Laboratory of the Red Cross (1980-1983). Later, he worked as Manager International Processing Control of Organon International, Oss (1983-1987). From 1987 to 1993 he was the pharmaceutical director of Europharm in Nijmegen. In 1993, he founded the Fame Holding where he was CEO and President of the holding till 2007. From 2006 till 2008 he was board member of aap bio implants AG.

Noes de Vries has extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industry, both in manufacturing and development. He also has been deeply involved in the implementation of general GMP/GLP directives.
